I don’t think bands really get infamous in rock music.
I, like quite a lot of other people listen to music which is like 30 years old as well as the latest releases. It’s a question of what music you like to listen to.
I like to listen to Linkin Park (Awesome music, especially LYING FROM YOU in my opinion)

Modern Rock – Linkin Park, staind, Seether, Godsmack, Three days Grace, Metallica, KoRn, Hurt, Chevelle, HIM, and Five Finger Death Punch are some good ones.
Classic Rock – Hell yea with Tom Petty! They’re great! also…bob seger, styx, van halen, Journey, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and old school Bon Jovi. Those are all good classic rock!
there’s many different genres within rock. i guess you want pop-rock?? well, i don’t like pop-rock, there’s much better genres than that. bands i would say to listen to are:
