The only problem with the video to "Big Time" was that it had to follow up "Sledgehammer"...not an easy task. But Gabriel and video producer Steven Johnston pull this tour de force off with another MTV classic.
You see Gabriel, wearing an interesting plaid outfit, singing about the joys of newfound wealth and fame. There's singing condominium complexes, a bedroom/mountain range, and cartoonish images of Great Gatsby-like excess. Look closely and you'll also see the symbolic destruction of those ideas.
With all the various types of animation going on that look like they were done by several completely different animation teams adds to the playful atmosphere. Unfortunately, those who worked on "Big Time" made the video seem so blissfully effortless, most people don't find this video as memorable as the others in the Gabriel catalogue...it's difficult to pick one great visual image.
