Favorite Album: It changes frequently. 'So' was the first Peter Gabriel
album I loved, but PGII has my favorite song... and then again, PGIII has
perhaps the best mix of songs, and Us is the most emotional... it's really
hard to say. All of them.
Favorite Song: Flotsam and Jetsam. The lyrics, the instruments, the tone, the
mood - all perfect. As for my favorite song he did with Genesis, it's a tie
between Hairless Heart and Back In NYC. Plus, Supper's Ready and The Musical
Box.
Favorite Gabriel-Era Genesis Album: I know it's almost everyone's favorite,
but I honestly thing The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway is the greatest album ever
made. Ever. Every song is a classic, every note is moving.
Least Favorite Song: Probably the shortest one he ever did... say, one from
Birdy. Not because it's bad - but because all his songs are great... so
naturally the shortest one would be my least-favorite.
Favorite Music Video: Big Time. I know that Sledgehammer won all the awards,
but Big Time really has some of the coolest damn effects I've ever seen.
Plus, the song is my favorite 'Pop' hit by Peter, as well, and my first
favorite song by him.
Favorite Tour: Hard to say... I think that Secret World Live was the most
visually stunning and best produced... but I really like his early songs
performed live (Humdrum, Not One Of Us, etc) and he didn't do many of those on
his latest tour. So, I guess I can't decide.
Favorite CD ROM: They are both incredible, but Eve definitely is the more
impressive, not to mention more fun, of the two.
Best Hair Era: It constantly changes, but I'll always love the classic
'reverse mohawk' of the Foxtrot era.
Favorite Album Cover: His third album, PGII running a close second, and Us not
far behind.
Favorite Non-Album Song: That's really hard. I definitely liked 'I Grieve',
and I think that's probably my favorite.
Favorite Collaboration: With all due respect, everybody except Kate Bush and
Sinead O'Connor. I don't mind them, but I don't think that they meshed well
with Gabriel's style. I do, however, really like Robert Fripp, Nusrat Fateh
Ali Kahn, Yossou N'Dour, and Paula Cole.
Favorite Non-Gabriellian Artist: There's a million. Depending on my mood:
Bjork, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Herbie Hancock, etc. But my favorite three
are probably Beck, The Beatles, and Aphex Twin.
Favorite Pastime Between Album Releases: Building a tapestry out of my belly
button lint. Counting the number of times I blink. Re-reading the
dictionary. Setting up a Civil War Historical Re-Enactment Society..
Seriously, though, nothing beats listening to his old albums.
Best *Idea* For a Collaboration: Although I don't have any idea how it would
turn out, I'd be interested to hear what he could do with Beck. Or maybe
Robert Fripp again.
I Think the New Album Title Should Be...: Although it's going to be Up, I
wouldn't mind the new album title being "Peter Gabriel" again... I've always
liked that...
Comments: Peter Gabriel has been my favorite since I was a couple years old
and my dad bought the 'So' tape, so he could learn how to play Sledgehammer on
the drums (a popular request at his gigs, at the time). I've been obsessed
ever since. By the way, although I LOVE his solo stuff, nothing compares to
The Lamb. But since he wrote most of it anyway, it's sort of a solo work,
right? [editors note...don't get into an argument with Tony Banks or Phil Collins on who should get the most credit on Lamb unless you want a screamin' jihad on your hands.]

Favorite Album: Peter Gabriel IV (Security). I like Peter Gabriel II just as much, but I can only pick one. :)
Favorite Song: Shock The Monkey & D.I.Y. The two best songs ever written on this planet.
Favorite Gabriel-Era Genesis Album: The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.
Least Favorite Song: Waiting For The Big One. (This is a PG song?)
Favorite Music Video: Shock The Monkey.
Favorite Tour: Plays Live.
Favorite CD ROM: Don't own either one. However, if I ever did I would be so greatful that I could never pick one over the other.
Best Hair Era: Secret World Live Tour. But only after he shaved the beard and moustache.
Favorite Album Cover: Peter Gabriel IV (Security). I'm as obsessed with masks as he is.
Favorite Non-Album Song: Party Man. It's deep and well written.
Favorite Collaboration: Youssou N'Dour. Shaking The Tree. These two were born to sing together.
Favorite Non-Gabriellian Artist: Bruce Hornsby. I'd like to see these two collaborate. It would be an album for the ages.
Favorite Pastime Between Album Releases: Trying to sing that off-pitch scream that Gabriel does so well.
Best *Idea* For a Collaboration: Peter Gabriel, Bruce Hornsby, Phil Collins, Steve Winwood & Peter Cetera. I don't even care what they would sing.. I'd spend $10 000 on it
regardless.
I Think the New Album Title Should Be...: I think "Up" is the best working title. And I'm very upset that R.E.M. is taking all the credit for it
Comments:
I love PG's music so much because I personally identify with all of
the lyrics. I listen to his music to endulge the mood I'm in at the
time. If I'm feeling down its usually something like "Don't Give Up"
or "Party Man". If I'm feeling especially good, its almost always "Big
Time". No matter what the mood, he's created a song to explain it.
