Management Skills

I've occasionally heard it said that we're not always the fastest people at getting things finished and into the shops. I'm not one to make excuses, but here are a few anyway:

  • It's not finished yet because...

  • the dog ate it

  • we left it on the Bus

  • the replication plant lost the original copy

  • the delivery platform standards haven't been finalised yet

  • we're waiting for the rights clearances

  • 437 of the graphics said 'Peter Gabirel'

  • we've decided to incorporate material from the next Womad festival

  • we're waiting to launch on PC and Mac simultaneously

  • I'm sure we said 'by the first of May'

  • we were all sitting in the meeting room when this apparition materialised on the table in front of us and told us that all the backgrounds had to be cyan.

  • Microsoft have changed all the video driver calls in the latest release of Windows.

  • Apple are upgrading Quicktime faster than we can upgrade our Xcmds
  • the Gameboy version is still a bit buggy

  • Virtuality Reality technology isn't up to the demands of our design yet
  • we got halfway though the project before we realised we were making Myst
  • we're waiting to film Peter
  • it has to be approved by Real World Holdings, Studios, Records, Design, Multimedia, Accounts, Womad, the solicitors.....
  • the power goes off every time someone turns the lights on
  • we can't remember the code for our new alarm system
  • we can't get the budget to add up
  • we thought of something much more interesting to do instead
  • No one could decide on a name for it.
