I Think the New Album Title Should Be: Up is nice
Comments: No comments. The Feeling Begins...

Favorite Album: Security is by far the most intense and thematically consistent. (It amazes me that this album still sounds fresh and edgy after all these years.) Passion deserves a close second because it breaks so much new ground, and because at about the sixth listen (who said PG was accessible?) is a very spiritual experience.
Favorite Song: "A Different Drum." Truly cathartic.
Favorite Gabriel-Era Genesis Album: I can't listen to them -- can't do it.
Least Favorite Song: "Excuse Me." Absolutely no excuse.
Favorite Music Video: "Shock the Monkey" -- better than the best conspiracy theory movie, vague enough to tease the imagination.
Favorite Tour -- Well, I've only attended the US tour, which was visually fantastic. But my pick is based upon the video of the "So" tour -- the backwards dive into audience during "Lay Your Hands on Me" was chilling.
Favorite CD ROM -- Eve
Best Hair Era: I like the bland, everyman cut from the Security era.
Favorite Album Cover: Passion
Favorite Non-Album Song: "While the Earth Sleeps"
Favorite Collaboration: With Nusrat on "Taboo."
Favorite Non-Gabriellian Artist: Radiohead, but give me early Police any day.
Favorite Pastime Between Album Releases: come on, nothing good can be said about this period of time.
Best *Idea* For a Collaboration: Wim Wenders. (who said it had to be musical?) Soundtrack for a movie about a post-apocalyptic manhunt across Africa.
I Think the New Album Title Should Be... OX
Comments: The wait is maddening. And as for OVO, how disappointing that PG did not sing on the majority of the album. The music is tremendous, but Havens sounds like a PG-wanna be doing kereoake. PG, if it has to be someone else, make it someone distinct.

Favorite Album: Probably Security. I've met Jerry Marotta, heard the
explanation of the "no cymbals" concept, and the idea is really very
fascinating. I find it interesting in the way that it is really, the first
consistant example of Peter's interest in world music, with all the songs
having driving drum lines and somewhat obscure instruments. I also love to
look through the booklet, and look at the names of some of the "instruments"
being used, such as "scraped exhaust pipe" and "blown drainpipe". I think it
a very unique album.
Favorite Song: Probably "Wallflower", though this week, "Indigo" is up there
too. (I have some Varsity Softball friends who are a bit impartial to "Shock
The Monkey)
Favorite Gabriel-Era Genesis Album: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. It's the
link between storytelling and singing, and not in a Canadian Folk music way.
If there was ever an album for a writer-musician...
Least Favorite Song: We're Waiting For the Big One...and seven minutes later,
still waiting.
Favorite Music Video: I think "Games Without Frontiers" is the most
disturbing one, alas, "Steam".
Favorite Tour: Considering Peter has not been on tour since I was 8 (though,
he started his 1994 North American tour in my city, Rochester, NY) I have
never seen him live. I have met people that saw SWL, and I hear it was pretty
cool. Therefore, SWL.
Favorite CD ROM: Eve.
Best Hair Era: Personally, I'm kind of liking the one inch cut. It looked
nice. I also like the early 80's really short thing happening.
Favorite Album Cover: I like Peter Gabriel II for this reason, if you look at
his hands, they are turned with his knuckles toward you, insinuating he is
scratching a different plane which is in front of him, which he can put his
hands through but scratch at the same time. Car trips to New Jersey give me
way too much time to think.
Favorite Non-Album Song: Definitely "I Grieve" off the "City Of Angels"
soundtrack.
Favorite Collaboration: With Sting (and Sinead) on that one time, Live "Don't
Give Up".
Favorite Non-Gabriellian Artist: Sting, who is gorgeous for his age. Plus,
there's something to be said for blond bass guitarists (I am one)
Favorite Pastime Between Album Releases: Kevin Kline Movie Marathons,
emailing my band teachers
Best *Idea* For a Collaboration: Well, myself. Do you think I've been taking
trombone lessons because I like it? I also play bass (electric and upright),
piano and the mysterious euphonium.
I Think the New Album Title Should Be...Probably, PG.
Comments: Well, as you could have guessed by some of my above comments, I am
but 15 years old. In this age of Britney Spears and *NSYNC (Why do we need
the star?), I have often been mocked by peers who say "Who?" and adults who
say "Why?" when I mention Peter. Yet, Secret World Live is excellent driving
music, everyone of my friends knows all the words to "Solsbury Hill", and
I've never met someone who didn't love "In Your Eyes". And, if I may add,
"Shock the Monkey" provided the best musical entertainment for hour long bus
trips for softball games, aside from "Sex Bomb." So, as my 22 year old
English teacher agrees, "Peter Gabriel Rocks!"

17 Moxie McCatland

Favorite Album: US
Favorite Song: "Love to Be Loved"
Favorite Gabriel-Era Genesis Album: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
Least Favorite Song: Milgrams 37 and the obscure "Soft Dog". Just doesn't do it for me.
Favorite Music Video: It's a tie between "Sledgehammer" and "Digging in the Dirt"
Favorite Tour: I haven't seen him on tour, but Mama swears by Secret World Tour so I'll go with that.
Favorite CD ROM: Ceremony of Innocence. Both Xplora 1 and Eve had ugly dogs in it. Only CoI had the class to feature a cat, as well as one of my favorite poems. And it's just a great CD ROM, too.
Best Hair Era: I'm covered in hair and I think everyone else should be too. I liked it when it was long.
Favorite Album Cover: Scratch. Definitely. Every time I see it, I have the urge to find some upholstery.
Favorite Non-Album Song: "I Grieve" with all the dogs and cats and flies and rats (yum!:) And I also like "Curtains" (see fav. album cover for reason why).
Favorite Collaboration: I know I'm the only one who likes this, but I'm partial to Gabriel's flutework on that Cat Stevens album.
Favorite Non-Gabriellian Artist: Stray Cats, Ratt, They Might Be Lions.
Favorite Pastime Between Album Releases: Eating, sleeping, playing, purring, scratching, playing with bags, shedding, curling up with Mama, crawling in suitcases and under the bed covers, playing with my toys "Cat Dancer" and "Da Bird".
Best *Idea* For a Collaboration: I know folks think he's too commercial, I think Morris would be great to team up with PG for some project.
I Think the New Album Title Should Be...Purr!
Comments: I hope we get a hundred more surveys so I can become a "Golden Great!"

18 Kari

Favorite Album: Secret World Live
Favorite Song: In Your Eyes (Say Anything was one of the first dates my
husband and I had).
Favorite Gabriel Era Genesis Album: I have to admit that I have never heard
any and am ashamed to say that in college I used to have whichever one it was
that had "Susudio" on it!
Least Favorite Song: This, of course, is difficult. But I can't bring
myself to listen to "Family Snapshot"---far too creepy.
Favorite Music Video: Secret World Live (Thank God for Borders Bookstore)
Favorite Tour: Sadly, have not been enlightened with this experience.
Favorite CD ROM: Do not own these but would love more info.
Best Hair Era: So is very charming; however, have to say that the style in
the SWL video is also good----did you notice during "Steam" that PG's hair is
statically charged from the dry ice and stands on end???? Extremely attractive.....
Favorite Album cover: Once again, SWL
Favorite Non Album Song: I Grieve is nice.
Favorite Collaboration: Even though I think she had some "issues", I would
have to say Paula Cole. I believe their voices blend together in a great
way. His vocal on Hush, hush, hush made the song, I might add.
Favorite Non-Gabriellian Artist: I enjoy Sarah McLaughlan, the Bodeans (!)
and classics like Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Favorite Pastime Between Album Releases: Having three children (a son and
twin daughters), finding any excuse to run errands so I can be alone in my
van (so cool, huh?) and play the music very loud--blew a speaker the other
day....and, this is very sad, but true: planning a second honeymoon to
coincide with the release of UP and the possible tour. Of course, don't know
WHEN or WHERE we'll be going yet, but it's a nice dream.....
Best Idea for a Collaboration: I'd like to see PG do something with Sarah McLaughlan
I Think The New Album Title Should Be: DO (as in c'mon, c'mon, help me, DO!)
Comments: 1. How about a new category on this survey: Favorite Lyric OR
Favorite Bit of Gabrielese? 2. Can any of you guys out there answer this:
WHAT is the attraction to Rosanna Arquette????? (do you sense the bitterness
in my voice??)
